Julie Maggi was born in Italy in 1983.
During a trip in Paris, Julie visits the Orsay Museum and she is bewitched by the impressionist painting. Back to home, she starts painting and she decides, despite her classical studies, to devote her life to drawing. She enrols to the International School of Comics, where she graduates after three years. After this period, she needs to enlarge her knowledge of the illustration world, so she takes an illustration class for one year.
In 2005 she collaborates as inker and colorist on the periodic comic strip “Sara e Pol”, the first one in Italy totally realized in Macromedia Flash for the publisher “Free Books”.
In 2006, after an experience of fifteen days in Paris, she discovers the world of French comic books publishing and she decides to enroll at the Academy of Fine of Arts of Rome to study Painting.
In 2007 she collaborates with the periodic “Agenzia Incantesimi” published by Star Comics and, as inker, for the comic strip “Wow”, published on “Skorpio”. She also realize the comic strip “Bernardo Adventures in Printerland” for E-servizi, during MedPrint, the fair of the technologies for the graphic and publishing industry of Mediterranean.
In 2008 she creates a series of engravings inspired to the novel “Elenoir”, exhibited during the renowned fair of art Art Ist of Istanbul (in the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center), in the Neo Art Gallery of Rome and in the Center for the Engravings and the Graphics of Art of Formello. She also publishes, on the periodical fanzine FL, the comic strip “Sotto la superficie”, drawed from her comic book "I racconti di Poe". She takes part in a photographic exhibition in Arezzo during the “International Day of the Woman" and she publishes “Closed”, an illustrated novel, written by Orazio Guarino.
In 2009 Foschi Editore publishes the illustrated novel “Elenoir”, written and drawed by her in 2005. She also illustrates the novel "Il giorno che Benny si perse... E la notte in cui mi ritrovarono", written by Vincenzo Malavolti, published by Nous Editore.
In 2012 she obtains a Bachelor Degree in Painting at the Academy of Fine of Arts of Turin. She is actually enrolled in the Master Degree program in the same Academy.
She is actually working to find a publishing house for her essay "Fumetto e arte Venerata" and for her second book of the series "Elenoir". In 2012 she has planned the publishing of her comic book "I racconti di Poe" with Iris Comics, her self-producted label.
In her free time she loves travelling, visiting exhibitions, attending shows and concerts and, above all, cultivating the numerous species of Iris flower that she finds around the world.
